Overview
Zhengzhou University (ZZU), established by the Henan Provincial People's Government, spans over 8,500 mu (566.67 hectares) and attracts students nationwide. Currently, it enrolls over 44,000 full-time undergraduate students, nearly 30,000 postgraduates, and over 2,300 international students from 88 countries.

Accommodation
On Campus
The University is committed to providing the best possible opportunities for international students coming to Zhengzhou for the first time. We have a wide and varied range university-managed accommodation options which are safe, affordable and convenient. There are a number of unique advantages for campus accommodations:
1. Guaranteed accommodation for fresh international fee-paying students.
2. Over 1,200 places available in halls of residence for international students.
3. Ethernet connection in most rooms, providing 24-hour access to e-mail and internet facilities.
4. Safe, supportive and secure environment.
5. Room is equipped with a bathroom, a complete set of furniture, an air conditioner, a heater and an electric water heater. Every floor of the hostel has a public kitchen and laundry room.
There are four buildings specially arranged for international students:
- 1.Building 17 of Liuyuan (Building 17 Park of Willow), for students of short term non-degree prgrams;
- 2.Building 2 of Heyuan (Building 2 Park of Lotus), for female students of degree programs;
- 3.Building 12 of Songyuan (Building 12 of Pine Tree), for male students of degree programs;
- 4.International Student Hostel (East Campus), for medical students of postgraduate programs and medical students of undergraduate programs in later stage.
International students can choose different types of campus accommodation, a single room or double-bed room at different price levels. Usually it will have all the facilities that you may need.

Off-Campus
Postgraduate students as well as undergraduate students (at Clinical Stage) can choose to dwell off campus.There are a number of online resources of private flats for off-campus accommodation. International students can search the following Chinese website for potential private residential flat around the campus:

Students who choose to dwell off campus in private flats should first apply to Accommodation Office.They are kindly reminded to go to the local police station together with your landlord to get a Temporary Residence Registration Form, which is issued by the local police station of your accommodation.
According to the Chinese law, foreigners should register his or her address at the local police station within 24 hours of arrival at Zhengzhou. Therefore, a special remind is that before you sign for the contract or pay for the rental, do confirm that the owner of the property is able to process the accommodation registration for you. Otherwise you will get into trouble of illegal stay. In case you moved to a new place, changed your passport or renewed your visa. You have to register your new address at the local police station in 24 hours after that.
If you travel outside China mainland, you should go to the local police station again to register your address after you come back, because when you leave China, your early residence registration will be automatically terminated.
When dwelling off campus, international students should pay attention to personal and property safety and security; they must not use rule-breaking electric appliances or drive a motorcycle in violation of regulations. When running into susceptible persons or in case of emergency, theyshould contact immediately relevant security personnel or police.
School of International Education will work with public security sectors at irregular intervals in security visits to international students' off-campus dwelling places. International students must cooperate and provide assistance in those visits.
International students who come into an emergent situation when dwelling off campusshould contact thepolice and relevant staffs of School of International Education immediately and provide possible cooperation in investigation and efforts for solution.
Admission Process
General Requirements for the Chinese Language Program
1. Candidate should be a Non-Chinese citizen with a healthy, non-criminal record, and between the ages of 18 to 55.
2. No requirement for candidates’ Chinese language proficiency.
Requirements for Applicants of the Bachelor's Program
Students applying to ZZU are expected to satisfy the General Admission Requirement, English Language Requirement, and School-specific Requirement before the start of the year of admission:
1. International candidates should be a non-Chinese citizens, with the aged of 18 and 30, healthy, with a non-criminal record.
2. International candidates should have an educational background equal to or above high school graduation (or equivalent). Applicants should pass the Chinese Scholastic Competency Assessment ( CSCA) test.
3. English language requirements: for candidates from non-English-speaking countries applying for EMI (English Mediated Instruction) programs, their minimum IELTS score should reach 6.0 or TOEFL score reach 82 (IBT) (553 in the written version or 217 in the computer version), or equivalent.
4. Chinese Language requirements: Applicants who apply for CMI (Chinese Mediated Instruction) Science and /or Engineering programs should pass the level-4 HSK or above, and those who apply for Liberal Arts studies should pass the level-5 HSK or above. Applicants with lower lower-level HSK can first apply for Chinese Language Programs for a full year or half year in ZZU before their degree studies.
Requirements for Applicants of the Master's Program
1. Candidate should be a Non-Chinese citizen, under 40 years old, a Bachelor's degree holder, healthy, with a non-criminal record.
2. English language requirements: for candidates from non-English speaking countries applying for EMI (English Mediated Instruction) programs, their minimum IELTS score should reach 6.5 or TOEFL score reach 90 (IBT), or equivalent.
3. Chinese Language requirements: Applicants who apply for CMI (Chinese Mediated Instruction) Science and /or Engineering programs should pass the level-5 HSK or above. Applicants with a lower-level HSK can first apply for Chinese Language Programs at ZZU for a full year or half year before commencing their major studies.
4. Specific requirements for individual academic Schools may vary by board and subjects taken. You are advised to check with your prospective school or supervisor.
